Umbrella

What is an umbrella company?

An umbrella company is a payroll service that contractors and freelancers can join as an alternative to setting up and working through a limited company. The umbrella company will work as an intermediary between the contractor and the recruitment agency or end client to pay the contractor for their work.

Frequently asked questions

We would love to hear from you! If you can’t find the answer to your query, please contact us using the form on the contact page or call us on:

In our initial call we will ask you which agency you are working with. In the event that we do not currently have a relationship with your agency, we will contact them to provide them with all the umbrella information they will require to engage with us. This can be done before you complete your registration with us.

The umbrella contracts with the agency and receives an assignment rate. This assignment rate has been uplifted to factor in the umbrella employer costs such as, Employers NI, Workplace pension, our umbrella margin, holiday pay and Apprenticeship Levy once the threshold is met.

The uplifted assignment rate will be paid to Everest Contracting. We will then deduct the employers costs such as Apprenticeship Levy, Employer’s NIC’s and the umbrella margin (this is our fee for processing your payroll).

The remaining amount will be subject to the following deductions:
• Tax
• Employee NIC’s
• Student Loan (if applicable)
• Pension (if applicable)

We are currently offering a refer-a-friend reward incentive of two weeks free payroll. This will be credited to your account after your friend’s first billing.

Upon registration you will have the option to allow your holiday pay entitlement to accrue or have it advanced to you everytime you are paid. If you allow it to accrue you will need to request for it to be paid in a lump sum.

If you have chosen to be paid via umbrella payroll, you will become an employee of the umbrella and will be unaffected by IR35 legislation.
